The Bunny Hop

Here is a video of Brooklyn crawling!!! Yes she is crawling finally, but we call it the bunny hop. It looks more like a rabbit hop than an actual crawl, but it gets her from here to there just the same.

8 month photos

Here are so some photos of Brooklyn in the past month. James has been needing our laptop alot lately so it has made it a bit harder to me to get pictures uploaded onto it. So here are the photos that I would have posted with her 8 month update.

We have the Cruis'n USA acrcade in the basement and here she is steering for me!
Oh the joys of feeding her spinach. Every time we feed her spinach, she rubs it all over her face, I think we have finally come to the conclusion that she is allergic to it. Every time we feed it to her, her face breaks out in hives, so I think we might be done feeding her that.
We got a new Pack N Play in our room for her to sleep the mornings in with us. It has a mobile on it that she loves to watch and play with.
You can't tell from this picture, but Brooklyn was sucking on a strawberry in this little pouch and it was getting EVERYWHERE! Her little outfit was covered in red, but she was loving it!

8 months

James and I were talking last night about how Brooklyn was going to be 8 months old today, and I almost wanted to cry because of how fast it is going by. She is growing up so fast and I don't want her to. She made her first official crawl today. She crawled across my mom's hobby room, and then we tried to get her to do it again and she just scooted herself on her tummy. She has been able to move in every which way, but forward crawling, for quite awhile. You would think that she would pick up on crawling much quicker, but I guess I shouldn't complain, that means less chasing her!
Now that the weather is nice, we go on walks every day and she seems to really enjoy that. It is nice to be able to get out of the house and have some different scenery for a bit. She is now eating avocados, sweet potatoes, pears, mangoes, prunes, carrots, peas, spinach, rice cereal, and cheerios. Avocados are still by far her favorite and she really does not like carrots, peas, spinach or really even rice cereal, but I feed them to her still because I do not want a picky eater and I am hoping that she will learn to like them.
She is so much fun and we are loving every minute of having her in our little family!

Clothing Exchange

If I were to put together a clothing exchange, would people be interested (and comfortable enough) in participating? We would do clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories! I got thinking that I have a TON of clothes that I want to get rid of and would rather see someone I know use it than give it away to DI if I can. Also, times are a bit tight for a lot of people and this would be a great way to get some "new" clothes and items for you without spending any money. I would make it a fun time where people can get to know each other and make some new friends. I think it sounds like a blast and am wondering of other people find that idea as exciting as I do? If you have things that you would like to donate to the cause, that would also be appreciated if you aren't interested in participating yourself. Please let me know if that is something you are interested in doing and I will get it together. Thanks Everyone!

Easter Baby

The Easter Bunny had EVERY intention on coming, but when he went out to get some stuff on Saturday, he couldn't find what he was looking for and decided to bag it :( Brooklyn still got an Easter Dress from Grandma and Grandpa Gabler that she looked so pretty in! On Easter morning, Brooklyn woke up with some Baby Einstien hair that was quite funny, so of course we got pictures of it. I wish that Easter was something special for us this year but I can't say that it was.....It really was just a normal Sunday for us in every way.

Check out those baby blue!
Our little Baby Einstien!
Our pretty Easter Baby! She looks like a young Marilyn Monroe in this picture!
Daddy giving kisses!
Finally mom gets in on the pictures!

Another Blog

I know, I'm blog happy, but I wanted to get a seperate blog for me to put my personal stuff on and just leave this one as our family blog. You can basically call this new one my public journal. http://lindsigabler.blogspot.com/

Doctor's appointment

So we haven't taken Brooklyn to the doctor since her 2 week check up. Since we aren't vaccinating her, we didn't see any reason to do so because we knew she was healthy with the fat rolls she had. On Tuesday April 6, we decided to take her in for a check up and found out her stats. She weighs 17 lbs 8 oz which we were a little surprised about, we thought she would have been a little bit bigger than that, and that puts her in the 50%. So she is right on target. Her length was 28" which puts her in the 90%. And her head circumference was in the 1%. I thought it was funny that she was big in one area, right on target in another, and really small in another. Oh well, she is healthy! We have one little "private" issue that we found out while we were there, but we got some cream for her and she will be great in no time.

10 days at the cabin

From March 27 until April 5, we were up at the cabin with both of our families. On Friday, March 27, James' family came out for his little sister's spring break to go snowmobiling. They arrived Friday night and ended up staying a little longer than they had originally planned, until Wednesday, April 1. On Monday March 30, James and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary! We spent the day snowmobiling ( I was able to go out for maybe 2 hours while James' mom watched Brooklyn) and then when we got Brooklyn fed her dinner, James and I went to dinner at a local restaurant up there called Mountain House. We attempted to find something else to do, but on a Monday night in a small town, there was absolutely nothing to do but roam Walgreens basically.
During these 5 days that James' family was here, Brooklyn had some REALLY rough nights! My poor little baby was struggling with constipation. Saturday night we had to give her a little suppository to help her go. After we gave it to her, she curled up in a ball and cried while James' held her in the air on her tummy to help her get "it" out. It was probably one of the saddest things I have ever seen. She would push so hard and then she would collapse while James held her up in exhaustion, honestly one of the worst things for a mother to watch. I sat and cried seeing her in so much pain. Then to top it off, she had to go through the same thing in the middle of the night Tuesday morning. We called the Doctor and asked what we should do to help it, and they told us to start making her some homemade spinach and prunes. James ran out and bought them both, we made it up, and she hasn't had a problem since! She really likes them also so it is something that we feed her everyday to make sure we don't go through that again.

On Thursday, my family came up and spent conference weekend up there. It is tradition that every conference my family goes up and listens. We missed Rob and Celeste this time, they decided that they didn't want to deal with snowmobiling in. Here are a few pictures of our week.

I layed Brooklyn down in the master bedroom for a few minutes while I put the food away in the fridge and this is what we found. She had rolled under the bed and pulled off the bedskirt that was velcroed up.
Here is Katie on our Anniversary while we were snowmobiling.
Here is James and his dad trying to dig out the snowmobile (they got used to doing this over the time period they were here!)
Here is grandpa Mark with Brooklyn in his coat. We were so sick of being couped up in the cabin all week that we went for a walk.
Here is our little Russian baby! I found this hat in the snow stuff up there and wore it on our walk, I had to put it on her and get a picture.
Over all it was a fun time, but I have to say that my child is a home body. She slept HORRIBLE the whole time we were there, and the first night home, she slept through the night and has slept great ever since!
